The Church of St Michael and All Angels

I belong to the parish of St Michael and All Angels in Christchurch, New Zealand. We follow the "High Church" tradition which, for those not familiar with it, is a return to some of the traditions followed in the Church before the English Reformation took out the fun bits -- like incense, liturgical robes, and candles. We have been described as "more Catholic than the Catholics" although we believe that the term "catholic" means "universal" and refer to the Roman Catholic denomination as "The Roman Church" for ease of description.

I am in the St Michaels Choir where I sing Alto. Choral singing is one of my favourite activities, particularly singing in Latin or Plainchant.

St Michaels was Christchurch's first wooden gothic church, and also the city's proto-cathedral. The stained glass windows and native timber construction are very beautiful and it is well worth a visit if you're in town - it can be found near the middle of town on the corner of Durham Street and Cambridge Terrace and is open most days. See their for what's currently happening.
